PlayStation Plus Free Games Review - December 2016

YUP! The final entry for free DualShock 4 from PlayStation Asia is here in my review.
Never stop to saying thank you to PlayStation Asia for giving me a chance to write my review about PS Plus free games on this month.

On December 2016, there's a cool trailer about PS Plus free games

1. Magicka 2
Platform: PlayStation 4
Genre: Adventure/Fantasy
My Personal Rating: 8/10 (Recommended)

Magicka 2 brings fantasy adventure with spellcasting system, and up to 4 players co-op. If you've got some friends who like blowing each other up and don't mind wearing out their fingers punching in spell combinations, you could probably have a decent enough time. If you're looking for something with more depth to it, or are hungry for a solo adventure, Magicka 2 is one spell-book best left locked in the library.

So basically Magicka 2 is a great coop game, no matter who you play with. It's no longer as fresh as the original episode, but it's indeed better. Maybe you're still confused about spellcasting system in this game, here is a little bit of gameplay check this out.

2. Root Letter
Platform: PlayStation 4 / PlayStation Vita
Genre: Visual Novel
My Personal Rating: 7/10 (Recommended for VN Lovers)

Before I go with my review, I have to inform unfortunately this free Root Letter in Chinese language. But I already play the english version, so here is my review about the game.

Actually Root Letter is a great visual novel with superb production values that’s only held back by some localization issues but excels in atmosphere and one that will remain with you for a long time. It’s so rare that we have a game that genuinely deserves to be called “elegant”, but Root Letter is that game. It takes a romantic, nostalgic idea, wraps it up in a mystery that is fun to piece together, and does all of that within the context of one of the most beautiful examples of anime art you’ll ever see.

Don't blame me if you get the spoiler from the video below ^^. And this is can boost your PSN Account with 2 easy platinums from PS4 and PS Vita.

3. Badland GOTY Edition
Platform: PlayStation 4 / PlayStation Vita / PlayStation 3
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 8/10 (Recommended)

A good side-scrolling action adventure with physics-based gameplay and atmospheric graphics and audio. Players control a flying creature, Clony, and try to survive through an astonishing number of imaginative and deadly traps, puzzles and obstacles within a dense, beautiful forest. One of the key gameplay mechanics is cloning, where you end up controlling dozens of Clones at the same time

The only reason I've not gone higher than 8 on this is it's not terribly re-playable. once you've completed the game, there's not much in it to want to revisit. That said, it's an indie title get a chance while this is free with PS+ worth to pay for this as it's still very entertaining.

4. Tiny Troopers Joint Ops
Platform: PlayStation 4 / PlayStation Vita / PlayStation 3
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 7/10

Tiny Troopers is so epic arcade game, fire yourself into an epic bite-sized arcade shooter, filled to the brim with action-packed mini maps of mayhem. Miniature warfare on a massive scale.

You can take control of your tiny troopers as you battle evil adversaries from around the world with a multitude of weapons and specialist soldiers. Collect medals, dog tags and intel during the course of each mission to ensure victory.

Do not forget to purchase this game for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita too. Then continue your saved game anywhere with Cross-Save between all versions. Check this video out!

5. Hyper Void
Platform: PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 3
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 7/10

Hyper Void is a shooter from the old school built for nostalgic arcade cabinets, but it also has a definite personality. A surprising title, challenging but never frustrating, making you go back over every time. The only cons is the limited amount of content, only 30 levels and nothing more, even complete lack of online support. However, for the cost of the ticket we still strongly recommend the purchase.

The lack of an easily definable grid system does mean that Hyper Void feels less precise than some of the more famous examples of the genre, and yes, the inclusion of a story is both strange and largely pointless, but thanks to its fantastic level design, silky smooth 60fps visuals and the brilliant implementation of a power gauge, Hyper Void represents another fine example of the genre, one that can comfortably stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Tempest and TxK that these two titles were already free on PS Plus on previous month.

Hopefully you can enjoy my review and wish me luck to win this Jr reporter contest this time ^^

PlayStation Plus Free Games Review - November 2016

And this month will surprise you with bunch of awesome titles as free with PS Plus subscription.
Be a member of PlayStation Plus and get these games for FREE!

Cool trailer PlayStation Plus free games on November 2016

1. BlazBlue Chronophantasma Extend
Platform: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita
Genre: Fighting
My Personal Rating: 9/10 (Recommended)

This version is revamped version improved with Guard Gauge system, players will determine when to attack/block using the Barrier Gauge meter. They can dish out super-powerful Guard Crush attacks when their opponent's Barrier Gauge is low with the revamped Guard system.

The story mode takes some getting used to, but it's engrossing once you do. It's very lengthy and very well voice acted. One of the best parts about this game is that it has an excellent tutorial mode that explains pretty much everything you need to know about not just the game, but fighting games in general. It explains what a mix-up is, it explain what a wake up is, it explains the advanced stuff of a fighting game and the challenges mode teaches you how to do the combos for each character.

There really isn't much wrong when it comes to this game other then the balancing being a bit skewed, and the story being a bit tough to swallow, but overall, Chrono Phantasma Extend is a fantastic game and one of the best 2D fighting games on a console.

This PS Plus free title includes all languages so english will be included. Don't worry, please watch the gameplay video here

2. Saints Row IV Re-Elected
Platform: PlayStation 4
Genre: Action Adventure
My Personal Rating: 8/10 (Recommended, So Much Fun)

After you got Saints Row Gat Out Hell for free last month, this month finally you got SR 4 for free!

Saints Row IV Re-Elected finds you leaping over buildings, singing songs, fight in a 2D side-scroller, cure cancer, save Santa Claus. All this and more awaits you when you play Saints Row 4, a special bundle that includes old SR IV and all of DLCs. After saving the world from a terrorist attack the leader of the 3rd Street Saints is elected to become President of the United States. Things go reasonably well for The President until an alien warlord named Zinyak attacks the white house and abducts his entire cabinet. Now stuck inside a reality bending simulation, the President and the Saints fight to save themselves, Earth, and the entire galaxy.

3. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
Platform: PlayStation 4
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 8/10 (Recommended for who love Exploring)

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is basically narrative exploring video game with a fantastic and beautiful world. This was a hauntingly beautiful experience. Interaction is minimal, you walk around a small town in Shropshire, England discovering remnants of stories filled with relatable and personal themes. The art direction is fantastic, the soundtrack is gorgeous and the stories that it weaves made me tear up many times.

I cared deeply for the characters, the writing was excellent yet humble. To summarize I'd say it's not going to appeal to everyone, it's a walking simulator that's heavy on contextual story but without any other gameplay bar exploration, what I will say is the length was actually longer than I expected, though this may be in part to a criticism I have over the ploddingly slow walking pace also the performance could be better with frame dips quite frequent. I found it beautiful and compelling

Please take a look a walkthrough video

4. Pumped BMX +
Platform: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita
Genre: Racing
My Personal Rating: 7/10

Pumped BMX + is a fast platformer that revolves around controlling your BMX bike and doing as many tricks as you can without crashing, while riding towards a finish. This game sees the player riding left to right across the screen attempting to perform tricks in order to complete certain challenges. It's relatively fun comparing such as Trials Fusion, but it is lacking in terms of level design and therefore won't offer all that much longevity.

Gameplay-wise it's similar to another popular indie game, OlliOlli too. The controls felt really great, speed control is handled with one button, left stick is used for balancing and right stick is used to do specific tricks in the air. The game is responding to every button press precisely and I haven't seen any problems related to possible bad latency.

5. Lumines Electronic Symphony
Platform: PlayStation Vita
Genre: Puzzle
My Personal Rating: 9/10 (Recommended Puzzle Game)

Tetris has met its match. Lumines Electronic Symphony is a painstakingly scrawled love letter to puzzle games and electronica of every stripe. For the first time in the series, special new block mechanics give players additional strategic options. Clear huge block combos using the powerful Chain Block, and learn to master the randomizing powers of the Shuffle Block. Star-studded musical line-up. Featuring some of the best and brightest names in electronic music, the soundtrack for Lumines Electronic Symphony is a diverse selection of known artists as well as original tracks composed by Q Entertainment's sound team, providing the ultimate aural experience.

This is easily the best game in the series and one of the most recommended buys of the launch portfolio of the PSVITA. It doesn't make the most of the console technical prowess nor uses imaginatively any of its touch control possibilities, but it is a puzzle game that fans of the genre will love for months.

Please take a look another version of review from IGN about Lumines

6. Beyond Good & Evil HD
Platform: PlayStation 3
Genre: Action Adventure
My Personal Rating: 9/10 (Recommended)

Beyond Good and Evil is one of those titles that acquire a huge reputation from hardcore gamers but wasn't a commercial hit, like Okami for example and as we wait for the long time announced sequel we can enjoy this remastered version.

Technically honestly the game doesn't look much better than the original therefore if you still have your copy and console the HD version isn't very interesting but at least the game has no bugs, and a steady frame rate. Unfortunately the game also suffers from its camera during the fights which is probably the biggest flaw of the game and some fights are really messy.

The rest of the game is awesome, the infiltration is clever, there is a lot of diversity during the game and you'll never get bored. The universe is enchanting and original with a rather clever story that will end a bit too soon, count 10 hours to finish the game at 100%, but boy you'll not see them pass.

So all in all Beyond Good And Evil HD is still a wonderful game advisable for every one that didn't play it when it originally came out, if not it's really a great game to play with one of the best original universe created for a video game, can't wait for the sequel. And please another sequel!

Take a look this the last free title gameplay video.

PlayStation Plus Free Games Review - October 2016

I got sad I didn't win last time on September Jr. Reporter Review :'(
But I try on this month with a better review than previous reviews I wrote.

Here's a trailer of PS Plus free games on October 2016

1. RESIDENT EVIL HD REMASTERED
Platform: PlayStation 4
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 9/10 (Recommended)

This is the best chance for you newcomers to face the original of Resident Evil franchise. Resident Evil HD  is a stunning recreation of one of survival horror's all-time classics. While some aspects may appear outdated, Capcom's zombie killer is one of the toughest, most rewarding adventure games you'll play, and the HD makeover ensures it looks better than ever.

The 3 first classic Resident Evil games are awesome! This remake is made with respect for the classic games and added some new things that fit really well into the game.
However when I play it today I am used to good controls and camera, so the bad camera and controls frustrated me a bit and I think they could have improved that a bit and it could still feel like a Classic resident evil game.

I like the new aggressive zombies and that you can lit them on fire, but it takes space and you have to little space to begin with, so maybe they could have placed the keys outside the box or giving us two extra spaces, without ruining the gameplay, still to much running forward and back and then forward again for my taste.

2. Lords of the Fallen
Platform: PlayStation 4
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 7/10 (Recommended)

There’s no denying that Lords of the Fallen has taken a huge amount of inspiration from From Software’s series of Souls titles, but it does so while also growing into a game that players can enjoy on its own terms. While faults both technical and creative keep it from being as enjoyable as it could have been, this is still an adventure that may be worth taking for those who love a real sense of challenge.

But honestly it needed a bit more time to cook and perhaps more testing, as the game isn’t perfectly stable and those mechanics needed some tweaking. That all being said, I will heartily recommend it to those who love extremely dark auras, and gamers who like a more balanced fantasy adventure.

Here's a boss fight played by PlayStation Access

3. Samurai Warriors 4
Platform: PlayStation Vita
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 7/10 (So Much Fun)

If you ever never heard this title like me, this is a good choice for you to play a musou game. Samurai Warriors 4 is a typical musou game, with tons of enemies and crazy on screen action. Both Tecmo Koei and Omega Force have done a good job with the game graphics, but a couple of strange game design details could be hard to understand for the musou hardcore fans. You have to know the PS Vita can hold this graphic so good. Maybe you don't believe me, but thanks for BlueMaxima to show off the PS Vita version of Samurai Warriors 4

4. Prince of Persia Revelation
Platform: PlayStation Vita & PlayStation Portable
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 6/10 (So So)

Like other of Prince of Persia games, Revelation has the same incredible acrobatic moves and puzzles are included with this little bundle of joy. And its story line that continues from the Prince of Persia Sands of Time.

While the scope and impressive design of the game remains intact, unfortunately there's a myriad of technical issues that rob much of the enjoyment. Everything from the visual presentation down to the core gameplay has been adversely affected in the transition from consoles to a portable system.

5. MAD RIDERS
Platform: PlayStation 3
Genre: Driving
My Personal Rating: 6/10

Mad Riders is not a bad game. It has some truly fun moments that remind me of the best arcade racers. The unfortunate part is that there are a lot of games that are simply better than Mad Riders. The game now is free that may you to try off road racing and should consider checking it out.
Once it gets going and the tricks begin to unlock, Mad Riders is extremely fast and quite fun. There are several niggles that drag this racer down, though, such as the slow introduction of stunts and the harsh quickness of some respawns which directly opposes the multi-pathed style of the courses, and it never really does enough out of the ordinary to live up to its title.

6. Tom Clancy's EndWar
Platform: PlayStation 3
Genre: Strategy
My Personal Rating: 7/10 (So Intense)

Another game from Ubisoft is getting free Tom Clancy's EndWar, this game is a military simulation real time-strategy game. This is a solid RTS experience that will definitely appeal to newcomers to the fold. Battle-hardened veterans may find this a little too simplistic in design but praises have to go to the development team for creating a solid title that is entertaining and brings something new to the genre, and specially for a console gamer.

Here is a gameplay video of EndWar you should check this out

PlayStation Plus Free Games Review - September 2016

First thing first, I would like to give my thanks to PlayStation Asia to let me win on the previous monthly review. But NOW, it is a time for review PS Plus free games at September 2016.

Here's a glimpse of trailer PS Plus free games on this month.

1. Rebel Galaxy
Platform: PlayStation 4
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 7/10 (Recommended)

Here's who the one love galaxy space game? Rebel Galaxy is a fun, arcade naval game in space that provides some of the trappings of a space-sim while ditching the complexity and time-investment required of more traditional space sims. Those looking for a deeply engaging story aren't going to find one but the characters have tons of personality. The setting has a very lived in feel-just be ready for the ending to be a bit of a let down.

The accent is on combat so expect to blow up a lot of ships if you're looking to be one of the galaxy's richest space truckers. Despite a few flaws this is an impressive first game from Double Damage Games. While a bit shallow the developers put a lot of heart into this and it shows.

2. Journey
Platform: PlayStation 4 (Exclusive)
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 9/10 (Recommended)

Tricky Pixels is the first party company in Sony Interactive Entertainment SIE and so professional to deliver relaxation and deep emotional video game. The pioneers that brought you the award-winning PlayStation Network titles flOw & Flower are back with another title that challenges traditional gaming conventions. With Journey, thatgamecompany (TGC) continues its tradition of delivering simple gameplay and accessible controls in a rich interactive environment that invites players to explore and experience emotional chords that are still uncommon in video games.

An exotic adventure with a more serious tone, Journey presents TGCs unique vision of an online adventure experience. Awakening in an unknown world, the player walks, glides, and flies through a vast and awe-inspiring landscape, while discovering the history of an ancient, mysterious civilization along the way.

Journeys innovative approach to online play encourages players to explore this environment with strangers who cross their path from time to time. By traveling together, they can re-shape the experience creating authentic moments.

3. TOUKIDEN Vanilla
Platform: PS Vita (Exclusive)
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 8/10 (Recommended)

Even Monster Hunter series released on the 3DS, but don't worry PS Vita users. You can play Toukiden for free after you subscribe PS Plus. Toukiden nailed the things that the popular Monster Hunter series didn't give to Vita. The story of the Slayers is definitely one of the things that surprised me, not expecting that a monster hunting game like this would have a decent one. If you're a gamer who's into graphics then Toukiden wouldn't also disappoint you. Far surpassing the graphics of any monster hunting game in any handheld device out there, this one is the best in my opinion so far. Don't mind the people who hates this game. A large sum of the Monster Hunter community would hate this game because it's annoyingly more appealing in some terms. Giving a very low score wouldn't change how good this game is.

Actually on this game (previous / vanilla) is kinda hard to beat the bosses. And if you're platinum hunter this is the most frustrating video game to achieve even 1 bronze trophy. But it's really fun if you play together with your friends. Unfortunately this version has only Chinese language. Look the gameplay video below how cool it is.

4. Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus
Platform: PS Vita
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 8/10 (Recommended)

The fourth action game for free is Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus. The battle of female ninjas is in a war. Revisiting the fierce rivalry between the girls of Hanzo? National Academy and their sworn enemies from Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy, the latter of which have now gone underground and formed a mercenary strike team known as the Homura Crimson Squad.

In addition to their old adversaries, the Hanzo? girls must also face a whole new set of foes, the students of Gessen Girls’ Academy, who seek to punish them for their imperfections as shinobi warriors. Meanwhile, a new class is in session at Hebijo, and these students mean business, they oppose all three of the competing factions and will stop at nothing to be the last shinobi squad standing, even if it means leaving broken bodies and shattered dreams in their wake.

5. From Dust
Platform: PlayStation 3
Genre: Strategy
My Personal Rating: 7/10

The combination of beauty environment with a sandbox puzzle game. If you love puzzle game don't forget to pick this one. Good looking game, puzzling game play who will keep you playing for hours to get the vegetation all over the map! I can recommend it for people who wants some chill out game with a bit of stress sometimes to make the game not too easy.

6. Datura
Platform: PlayStation 3
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 7/10

Finding yourself in a mysterious forest, you will navigate your way through the game by controlling your character's hand using Playstation Move technology. From here, you are immersed into the game's unique experimental narrative and original way of interaction, which enables you to experience the world not only visually, but also empirically an illusion that you can actually touch trees, faces, and other objects.

Here's a bit review from IGN about Datura.
