There are 6 free games cross-platform and 1 free cool theme that you can try free on this month, I will review them one by one.
1. HELLDIVERS
Platform: PS4, PS3, PS Vita (Cross-Platform)
Genre: Action
My Personal Rating: 10/10 (Recommended)
Thanks for the big decision of SCEA and arrowhead to bring this HELLDIVERS free. HELLDIVERS sets in a dystopian future, players fight to protect "Super Earth" where a managed democracy has mussed the lines between military and government rule. We are losing the war, and the HELLDIVERS are the last line of defense against three invading enemy species.
It's delightfully addictive, simple, and fun. Seeing that I have little friends to who happen to own the game, I hop in the game with no mic. I found that the players you meet are very easy to communicate with due to the voice commands. Sharing a screen with the other players was also a great idea since it forces the players to work together.
Even single-player was fun and challenging, but still doable. I loved going into worlds alone that I was sure I would never beat and then turn out on top. It's an equally great feeling to be playing alone and see that 3 other people had joined your mission.
The factions are my favorite part of the game. The 3 races are so different from each other and you really have to invest some time to learn how to change your strategy and thought patterns depending on the race you're going up against. For instance, when fighting against the Cyborgs, you may want to bring a shotgun to take out multiple enemies at once because the cyborgs rely more on numbers than actual strength, but when you're going against the Illuminate, you might want to bring a rail gun or laser weapon to take out the enemies that try to one-shot-kill you from a distance.
HELLDIVERS give you an addictive, simple, and also frustrated gameplay all in one.
Here's a little video of gameplay, thanks for sotheysayy
2. Lemmings Touch
Platform: PS Vita
Genre: Puzzle
My Personal Rating: 6/10
Touch screen system on PS Vita is perfect way to play Puzzle game like Lemmings series. Without hotkeys and precision clicks the formula isn't perfect, but Lemmings Touch is about as good as a handheld entry of the series could ever be.
Even with some small problems, Lemmings Touch is another fun and addictive chapter of the series, with some interesting functions for Vita’s touch screen. If you’re a Lemmings fan, don’t miss it.
A decent re-proposition of what still is a milestone in its genre. It's got a couple of new ideas that will not blow your mind but do make it fresher. The touch interface is well implemented but not perfect.
Platform: PS4
Genre: Platformer
My Personal Rating: 7/10 (Recommended)
Nom Nom Galaxy is a really good game bending sandbox games which is all about creating enormous soup factories with your friends and shipping tasty soup into outer space. You have to create platforming, mining, construction(base building),resource-management and tower defence. Within the game players land on huge remote planets within the fictional galaxy, players will have to find new ingredients with their handy buzzsaw. Once the basic soup factory you can explore the remote plants to clear space to start expanding on what you can sell and dominate the market of the soup world.
So that’s the basic of the game now lets get on to what I think of the game, lets start on gameplay. Well when I first loaded the game up on my ps4 it reminded me of playing Super Mario Brothers but with the destructible world of Terraria, the only difference is you have oxygen which you have to keep an eye on cause if you don’t you will not get far. Don't worry though there are oxygen pockets dotted around the planets, the one thing I loved about this game was the research to unlock upgrades to your little astro dude and even your weapons to help fight against invading enemies from rival factory's .
Now lets talk about the galactic challenges which are a separate area to the core gameplay and really work towards social gameplay and long-term engagement with friends or even complete strangers, all the challenges are based around racing, defending, swimming and more which makes them unique as you are rewarded if you protect your position which you can transfer the them into the core game.
Overall Nom Nom Galaxy is a great game if you like open world, build how you like indie game, it has vast features and unlocks in which you can play though to until you heart is content to unlock them. It also has quite a few trophies for you to help improve your expanding profile.
Here's one simple video of gameplay, special thanks for PauseUnpause ^^
4. Nova-111
Platform: PS4, PS3, PSVita (Cross-Platform)
Genre: Puzzle with Sci-Fi Theme
My Personal Rating: 7/10
If you never heard of Nova-111, is a sci-fi themed turn-based adventure game with a twist of real-time action. Navigate your trusty orange science vessel as you voyage through mysterious planets in search for the famed scientists who were lost into the cosmic REAL-TIME vortex.
Nova-111 is an enjoyable turn-based adventure game that manages to impress with its refreshing controls and charming art style. Though it does have some flaws, such as a lacklustre auto-save feature and a cumbersome amount of abilities, you'll be hard pressed to find a weirder and more brilliant tribute to the men and women who changed the world through science.
I have one video from BlueMaxima, Nova-111 PS Vita gameplay
5. Grid Autosport
Platform: PS3
Genre: Driving
My Personal Rating: 8/10 (Recommended)
Grid Autosport is a perfect driving simulation for you who addicted with racing game. As a fine racing game with enjoyable driving experience, a lot of variety in types of (race) cars and an extensive online multiplayer mode. We can forgive the fact that the game doesn't look good in every respect: it has no negative influence on the experience of racing. By far the most impressive thing about the game is the AI, that asks everything of you to win races, again and again.
And now I'm going to start with the bad news. As an avid racing fan, on normal settings, this game is very hard. Crazy AI and far more of an emphasis on SIM than Arcade racing, I found myself going to an easy setting just to get into the game. It's not a visual treat either unusual for Codemasters but holds its own. And for the good news, the gameplay is wonderfully challenging and reminds me of the first Grid (my favorite of the series) far more than the mess that Grid 2 was. The mixture of racing styles is brilliant and a great move, keeping the game fresh. I would have liked a fresh take on the first Grid mechanics but this is an amazing racing game nevertheless, and next to Dirt series and GT 5, the best racing game on the PS3. I can't wait to see what Codemasters have up their sleeves for next gen as they are truly the masters of racing devs.
Special thanks for MrSkillToKill2 for the video
6. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
Platform: PS3
Genre: Fighting
My Personal Rating: 9/10 (Recommended)
One of fans Persona series and fighting style by ArcSystemWorks dev? You have to subscribe PS+ Right now! ATLUS and Arc System Works team up once again to produce the next deadly broadcast on the Midnight Channel. The P-1 Grand Prix tournament is barely over, but the P-1 Climax has already begun. A mysterious red fog settles over the real world and the Persona-users assemble anew to apprehend the culprit once and for all. The time to settle accounts has come. The events of Persona 4 Arena reach their thrilling conclusion in the massive story mode of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax! New playable characters, including fan favorites from the Persona 3 and 4 RPGs, add even more breadth to the already diverse roster. Master new skills, systems, modes, and “Shadow” versions of characters, and challenge the world’s best players in online matches.
Ultimax takes the original and makes it better. There is something for everyone, from the solo player to the fighting enthusiast. Atlus also continues their Persona narrative, emphasizing that this is a series integral to the Persona brand as a whole and not an easy cash-in. A must buy for anyone who likes fighters and/or the series.
Everything great that can be said about the original Persona 4 Arena has been kept or improved upon in the sequel. Many more characters with unique play styles have been added, and returning veterans in P4AU have updated movesets and alternate forms by use of their shadows who play on a completely different mechanic. The story mode of the game has been vastly improved in my opinion, rather than repeating similar scenarios with different character, as is the case with P4A, the story has a linear path with branches for different characters so that there is little overlap, and it's much easier to establish a canon progression than in P4A. The episode P4 portion of the story feels a bit forced with how the characters interact and relate to the current situation, but this is more than made up for with Episode P3 which provides a much more detailed and characterized path through the story. The inclusion of the Adachi episode which comes free in the first week as DLC is also a pleasant surprise. Gameplay is much like P4A, but feels overall more polished and smooth.
Here's a video of gameplay from Spooks
